Poolside Cocktails for Your Next Pool Party
Whether you’ve had a backyard pool for years, or you’re about to customize your own pool for your Dallas area backyard, us here at Riverbend Sandler Pools, your best Dallas pool builders, believe a beautiful outdoor space is best when it’s being used for entertaining. With the days getting warmer, we’re just a month or two away from the beginning of pool party season. And what better way to ring in the summer than with a pool party and some festive cocktails?
Here are some of our favorite pool party cocktail recipes for Texas entertaining. With minimal prep time but maximum festivity, they’ll be sure to make your next pool party a success!
Classic Red Sangria
A perennial favorite, sangria is easy to make in big batches and is an instant crowd-pleaser. After mixing the ingredients together, allow the sangria to sit for at least one hour in the refrigerator before serving so that the fruit sweetens the mixture all the way.
- 1 bottle light or medium-bodied red wine
- 2 cups lemonade
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
- 1 thinly sliced orange (navel or other variety)
- ½ pint berries (we recommend blackberries)
- 1 cup seltzer or club soda
In a large pitcher, mix together wine, lemonade, sugar and brandy. Add the sliced oranges and berries, and then pour in soda. Serve over ice after refrigerating for at least 1 hour.
Cosmo Slushies
Remember how refreshing a slushy was on a hot summer day when you are kid? These cosmopolitan slushies put a welcome grown-up twist on one of our childhood favorites. This recipe makes about six cocktails, so be sure to double or triple for a larger party.
- 1 1/4 cups citrus-infused vodka
- ½ cup lime juice
- 2 cups cranberry juice
- 4 ice cube trays
No blender required! Mix ingredients in a large pitcher and pour into ice cube tray. Allow to freeze for at least 4 hours. Pour the ice (which will be slush-like, not completely solid) into a large bowl and spoon into stemmed glasses to serve.
Margaritas
No list of pool party cocktail recipes would be complete without including a classic margarita. This recipe makes 4 margaritas. Serve with tacos if you want to be the absolute talk of the town.
- ¾ cup tequila
- ½ cup fresh lime juice (squeezed from 4 to 6 limes)
- ½ cup Triple Sec
- ½ cup water
- 1 lime, sliced
- Kosher salt (if desired)
Combine tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec and water in a large pitcher. Serve over ice, in salt-rimmed glasses for the perfect, final touch. Garnish with lime wedges.
